This week, the Senate of the Phillippines is expected to begin floor deliberations on a bill that will give the public greater access to information and documents, and sanction officials and agencies that refuse to respect the public’s right to know. At the same time, Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism has exposed the mysterious wealth of the President Arroyo. PCIJ analyzed the statements of assets and liabilities and net worth (SALNs) that President Arroyo filed over the last 17 years, as well as the SALNs submitted by her two sons, Rep. Juan Miguel ‘Mikey’ Arroyo (Pampanga) and Rep. Diosdado ‘Dato’ Arroyo (Camarines Sur), and her other relatives in public office.
