Russia's Duma passs a Freedom of Information Act

On Wednesday, January 21, 2009, the Russian Duma passed on the third reading Russia's Freedom of Information Act (available in Russian). President Dmitry Medvedev still needs to sign the bill and even in that case, the law will only come into force in January 2010. However, this is a big step for Russia.
